Sand Key Park Beach Wedding

Matt and Karen were married in April of 2008 at Sand Key Park in Clearwater with their reception following at the Clearwater Sailing Center across the street from the park. Matt and Karen had chosen Hawaii for their Honeymoon Destination and wanted the guests to have a laid back fun approach to their wedding and reception. We decided that stations for the reception with a steele drummer for the wedding and cocktail hour to get the guests in the tropical casual fun mood. The one major request that the groom had was for the reception. He wanted a pirates chest full of beer for the guys to be able to help themselves to without waiting at the bar. Fortunate for Matt. Tammy’s husband was given the task of designing a pirates chest to accommodate beer and Ice , but also look authentic. The picture is below of the finish product, which Matt is now the proud owner of .

Matt and Karen also were not big fans of champagne. We decided to come up with a signature drink called the Salemme Slam. ( similiar to a Blue Hawaiian) All of the guests were treated to a authentic coconut cup with a cute umbrella and straw and the cup was full of their signature drink for the toast. It really was a great way to keep the guests in the tropical mood and also served as a favor for the guests to keep and take home at the end of the night. We also decided to do wedding wishes instead of a traditional guest book and the guests hung all of the wishes on a manzanite tree that was placed at the entrance to the cocktail hour. We want to thank Cameron Heeg for the professional pictures below of Matt and Karen”s wedding. The food was catered by Delectable’s Fine Catering and the beautiful wedding Ceremony was performed by Dave Bishop from Loving Unity who suggested adding the shell tossing as part of the wedding ceremony.

A hot design trend to watch for in 2009

A hot design trend to watch for in 2009 table décor is metallics paired with vibrant, organic colors, such as green, yellow, royal blue, rust and terra cotta. Designers are also using colored, frosted and scored glass as accent pieces.

new design trendA hot new design trend is to mix metals with natural materials such as wood, flowers and grass. Whether gold, bronze, nickel or silver, metal lamps and accessories are adding a clean, simple, minimalistic touch to home or commercial interiors, as well as special event decor.

table top decorAnother hot trend in table décor is mix-and-match color glass inserts in metallic tabletop non-shaded lamps. Glass is becoming a popular material that fits in with the current eco-chic trend. Designers are beginning to play with various glass finishes, such as frosting, scoring and carving. Glass is also being used to mimic elements of nature, such as water, ice, leaves and moonlight.

The Rohm and Haas Company forecasts that large, dramatic geometric patterns will be paired with metallic finishes and accents  for an interesting blend of urban and natural.
