Today we have chosen to feature the centerpieces from our Fabulous at 50 Party….. Linease was our Gal turning 50 and she was FABULOUS!!! Her Love of Shoes, purses, diamonds and flowers is what inspired these Fabulous Centerpieces from Scott at Apple Blossoms in Tampa…….

Trendy Thursday- Eclectic Look

A trend that we have been seeing a lot of lately is the eclectic look. More and more brides are using different styles of vases on each table. 4 or 5 different kinds of votive holders or mis-match items. Everything about your wedding doesn’t always have to match.

Using bright bold colors such as oranges and purples with random style vases and linens will really make your wedding stand out from everyone else’s.

Pop-art Inspired Artificial Bouquets

We subscribe to a lot of event industry news letters and this came across my computer today and I thought it was a neat concept for all of the Eco-Friendly people out there.

This was the excerpt that came across about this cool product:

Flower arrangements from PopFlowers are made of dirt-resistant, lightweight polypropylene and require no care other than an occasional wipe with a damp cloth. The handmade flowers come on coiled wire stems that can be changed to vary the arrangement. The flowers are 100 percent hypoallergenic and fragrance-free; the manufacturer recycles all post-production waste. The product is shipped using minimal packaging, which is itself biodegradable.

So after reading this brief clip about it: We went to the website to check it out for ourself…The first page of the website gives 10 reasons to use their flowers and after skimming thru the website we find a few great finds and ideas:

We love the fact that you can use them for napkin rings.. If they do not have the style of flower you desire, they will customize one for you. I am always concerned when using fresh flowers on the napkins and if they will wilt before the guest see them. This would alleviate my concern:

The other great idea is the kids at the bottom playing with the flowers. That would be a wonderful idea for a kids table activity at a wedding reception or party.

Party like a Rockefeller

During the depression, while the rest of the country was pinching pennies and just scraping by, the Rockefeller family was holding fabulous soirees complete with unique ideas. One of my favorites centerpiece ideas stems from their lavish parties. The Rockefellers would put a long, rectangular box filled with sand in the middle of the dinner table. The mini trowels placed in the box helps the guests unearth their party favors: emerald necklaces, diamond earrings, ruby bracelets, you name it! Why not update this idea by choose or creating a box of your own, filling it with decorative stones, crystals or even candy, and hiding favors in it?

Barefoot Beach Resort Wedding & Reception

Andrea and Brandon were married on April 25th, 2009 in Indian Shores. Andrea and Brandon chose the Barefoot Beach Resort in Florida for their destination wedding. The ceremony was held on the beach with the Bride and Groom saying their vows and after the kiss, riding off on a Harley Davidson for a ride down the beach. The guests moved to the pool for the poolside reception. Andrea and Brandon chose food stations for the guests of a Seafood bar, Mexican Bar with make your own fajita’s and a gourmet cheese and fruit station supplied by Delectable’s Fine Catering. The guests enjoyed the sunset sipping cocktails and dancing to the music of Frank Lebano and company. We had suggested umbrellas to give shade cover around the pool since all 60 of the guests came from out of town. It made for a great time and kept the guests from getting to sunburned. Candles Outside – Beware!

Ahhh, don’t you just love the scene below? So home-y and gorgeous, a warm glow of candlelight illuminating a beautiful table. It’s absolutely stunning! One thing to keep in mind when re-creating this lovely look: the wind! Don’t underestimate the power of the wind to blow out your candles, no matter how large the jar or candleholder is!

Instead of lighting & re-lighting votives until your fingers are burnt, just go for the cheap battery-powered votives. You’ll get the same look but without the headache.
