Featured Ceremony Program

Welcome to Featured Friday………..

One of the best parts about my job is being able to customize the elements of each wedding. I want every single wedding to be a personal reflection of the bride and groom.

For this wedding, the bride really wanted to incorporate their love to travel, and the groom really wanted a nice elegant wedding, so we at Special Moments decided to fuse the 2 ideas together.

Ceremony passport programOne of the “travel aspects” of the wedding was their ceremony program. We designed it to resemble a passport. Of course with my OCD traits I sat and stared at an actual passport for an entire day to make sure I got every single detail down. We used textured paper on the cover and did the same symbol on the front. On the bottom of each page we did love quotes because on a regular passport they have quotes.

The idea is that whatever you think of, we can create.

Here are a few photos from Courtney and Masable’s Wedding to enjoy:

Trendy Thursday – The “Nautical Aisle”

Trendy Thursday- Eclectic Look

A trend that we have been seeing a lot of lately is the eclectic look. More and more brides are using different styles of vases on each table. 4 or 5 different kinds of votive holders or mis-match items. Everything about your wedding doesn’t always have to match.

Using bright bold colors such as oranges and purples with random style vases and linens will really make your wedding stand out from everyone else’s.

Don’t be afraid to think outside of the box, and if you need suggestions on how to get this look, we are only a phone call away.

New Blog Format- Trendy Thursday

We have decided to update the format of our blog…. There are so many great design blogs out there to give you inspiration and planning advice……

We are converting the Blog to a Monday thru Friday Blog… Each Day of the week will have a topic/theme and it is designed to have you the viewers be able to post things related to that day of the week…….

Thursday will be fondly known as Trendy Thursday  from now on…….

To go with the whole different theme each day, we present to you….. TRENDY THURSDAY!

Everyone always wants to know what’s the new trend, what’s the latest and hippest, and we at Special Moments are here to give it you! The trends can range from a certain color that’s in, a certain aspect of the event, or anything! Make sure you check back each week, because you will never know what we pull out of our magic bag!

The Trend for this week is for you Outdoor Wedding Brides……..

Outdoor Wedding Brides are thinking about the guests comfort during the ceremony , especially in the Summertime, But wanting to personalize the wedding also… So…. a great trend we are seeing is the brides are wanting  fans for their guests at the ceremony to keep the guest cool, but also keeping with their decor or theme……

The Paper fans are a great project and idea that you can create yourself so it is personalized to your decor or theme, but also Unique and not Cookie Cutter….

We have included the steps below so you can create these yourself……

What You Need:

  • 12 x 12-inch sheet of patterned scrapbook paper
  • Scissors: scallop-edge and straight-edge
  • Crafts glue
  • 1/8-inch hole punch
  • 24-inch length of 1/2-inch-wired ribbon

Instructions:

1.            Trim opposite edges of the scrapbook paper with the scallop-edge scissors. Beginning with a straight edge of the paper, make accordion-style pleats every 3/4 inch across the paper. Firmly finger-crease each pleat.

2.            Fold the pleated piece in half to form a fan and then unfold. To eliminate bulk where the unit folds in half, use straight-edge scissors to cut away a piece of the paper about one inch long on the inside pleat.

3.            Refold the fan, spreading out the pleats, and slip one edge of each inside pleat over the other; glue in place. Use the hole punch to make a hole at the bottom of the center pleat. Insert the ribbon through the hole and tie a bow.

4.            Use the hole punch to make a hole at the bottom of the center pleat. Insert the ribbon through the hole and tie a bow.

Water Inspired Centerpieces

First one is from Better Homes and Gardens:

Cranberry Tree

A blend of chilled bubbly and cranberry juice, garnished with fresh berries, is festive and fun — and takes just two minutes to make.

Best for: Evening cocktail parties
Start to finish: 2 minutes

Tip: To make this drink kid-friendly, add sparkling cider instead of wine.

Recipe:                                                                                                                 cranberry tree

  • 1/2  cup chilled champagne
  • 1/2  cup cranberry juice
  •    Fresh cranberries threaded on a skewer

Directions

1. In a champagne glass combine chilled champagne and cranberry juice. Garnish with cranberry skewer. Makes 1 serving.

Second recipe comes from TheBar.com

Ginger Snap:                                                                                                                                             the gingersnap

  • .75 oz. Captain Morgan Spiced Rum
  • .5 oz. ginger brandy
  • 4 oz. eggnog

The 3rd and final recipe comes from Drink of the Week:

Pumpkin Pie

1 oz. Malibu Rum                                                                                                                           PumpkinPie
3/4 oz. canned pumpkin pie filling

1/2 oz. Kahlúa
2 oz. with cold milk

Mix ingredients in blender with ice and blend thoroughly; Pour into graham cracker-rimmed highball glass and garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Be Careful- Do Nothing New

Here are ten things you should not do the week before your wedding (collected from real life tragedies):

1. Try a new food (hello allergic reaction)
2. Wax anything you have never waxed before (bumpy red irritated skin… and itching)
3. Cook in the middle of the night (hello second degree burns – on my face!)
4. Overeat (it is a tight white dress after all)
5. Starve (it can be a loose white dress if you are not careful – and you can faint)
6. Do anything too sporty (although the cast is white too – it just doesn’t look so good with the dress)
7. Try new makeup (see number 1 and number 3)
8. Get a hair cut from a new beautician (I think this one is a no brainer)
9. Stay awake and worry (no makeup can hide truly dark circles)
10. Forget that it is just a party (down Bridezilla! – down girl!).
